- W322346360 abstract "A feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the effect of protein and energy contents ongrowth and feed utilization of juvenile Zacco barbata.Six diet groups with two proteinlevels(35% and 25%)were used in the experiment. The energy levels of 3.3,3.7,and4.2 kcal/g were formulated for diets containing 35% protein.Diets with 25% proteincontained 2.9,3.3,and 3.7 kcal/g energy. The experimental diets were fed to satiation intriplicate to groups of juvenile Zacco barbara weighing approximately 0.32 g for eightweeks.Weight gains of the fish were not different(p>0.05)among treatments.Feed conversion ratios of fish fed high protein(35%)diets were significantly better(p<0.05)thanthose fed low protein(25%)diets.Whereas,protein efficiency ratios of fish fed lowprotein diets were significantly higher(p<0.05)than fish fed high protein diets, regardlessthe energy content.Body compositions of test fish were not different for all dietary groupsexcept that the protein content was the lowest for fish fed the highest energy diet. The results of this study indicated that when Zacco barbara were fed to satiation,the25% protein diets with energy contents of 2.9 to 3.7 kcal/g were adequate to achievesimilar growth as those fed 35% protein diets containing energy from 3.3 to 4.2 kcal/g." @default.
