- W33128657 abstract "ABSTRACT Bioassays carried out under laboratory conditions enable us to determine the environment factors, as well as some of their combinations, which have an effect upon the dynamics of animal and plant populations, These tests constitute a basis for the understanding and estimation of pollution effects on aquatic media. But, owing to the control of some environment factors, the bioassays under laboratory conditions limit the real phenomenon to an abstraction. In situ experiments include the complex relations between the organism and its environment. They give a picture of the substance effect on the environment which is close to reality. The study of this effect upon the various aquatic media has given rise to an increasing complexity in laboratory tests and has led to the determination of application factors. To illustrate the complex relations between organisms and environment, it might be useful to define indexes including information gathered at the various levels in the ecological pyramid." @default.
