• W333535268 abstract "2 Abstract: Topography and climate have an important role in genesis and micromorphology of soils. As calcareous and gypsiferous soils are among the most widespread soils in central Iran, the present research was conducted to study their genesis and micromorphology along a topography-climate gradient. Soil moisture regimes shift from aridic (Kerman plain) to xeric (Lalehzar elevations) along the gradient. Lenticular gypsum crystals were observed in By horizon of pedon 3. Moving upward the transect, dissolution of lenticules, caused gypsum interlocked plates to be formed (pedon 4). Calcite coatings, infillings and nodules were also found in different Bk and Bktn horizons. W ith increasing humidity toward upslope positions, calcite nodules become dominant. Clay coatings were observed in Btkn and Btn horizons studied. Soils of Kerman plain (aridic part of the transect) are Typic Haplocalcids that change to Petrocalcic Calcixerepts and Calcic Haploxerepts toward the upslope positions. Soil processes, gypsum and calcite micromorphology, and soil classifications were different during the gradient that showed role of topography and climate in soil formation." @default.
