- W338889711 abstract "The flowers of Lantana camara L. change colour, the wild form in Central America from yellow to red, another one near Calcutta, in Kenia and in Creta from white to pink. Nectar is secreted in the first phase only. While up to now butterflies have only been watched as visitors and pollinators the list of visitors in Creta consists of 72.7 % Apidae, 13.5 % Papilionidae and 7.2 % Moths among which the Pyralid Palpita unionalis is the most important. All animals prefer the white flowers with nectar (98.5 %) and neglect the pink ones. This difference of the pollinators in the different environments may be dependent from the different conditions in the distinct biotops. The same is true with Circaea lutetiana and Cynanchum acutum. Studying the pollination one has to consider not only the relationships between flowers and their pollinators but the total situation of the biotop." @default.
