- W3457071 abstract "In order to model realistically the effects on flexible pavements of actual traffic loads and temperature variations, it becomes necessary to adopt mechanistic design methods. Such methods can be most readily implemented using computer-based procedures. The paper begins by outlining the nature of the asphalt pavement design problem. Emphasis is then placed on modelling the effects of daily and seasonal temperature fluctuations and the influence of real traffic loading spectra for both roads and industrial pavements. An interactive design methodology for Australian conditions is then described. This may be implemented using microcomputers. The utility and effectiveness of this approach is illustrated by reference to practical road and industrial applications (TRRL/Author)" @default.
