ENGLISH: Recent research shows that pesticides are far more dangerous to amphibians than standard toxicity tests suggest. Experiments done under ecologically more realistic conditions show that pesticides can lead to high mortality even at relatively low concentrations when combined with other stressors. Interactions with predators and parasites are especially likely to increase negative effects of pesticides on amphibians. Other studies find a variety of direct, indirect and delayed effects of pesticides. Under some ecological conditions, even positive effects of pesticides may occur (for example, when pesticides kill predatory insects). Nevertheless, the accumulated evidence clearly suggests that pesticides contribute to the global decline of amphibians." @default.
