- W36748855 abstract "Two near isogenic lines of barley carrying alleles of the Ml-a locus for resistance or susceptibility to powdery mildew were inoculated with Erysiphe graminis f. sp. hordei, race CR3. Peroxidase activity in the intercellular wash fluid was analysed at various times after inoculation. An increase in peroxidase activity was observed in both barley lines between 8 and 16 h post-inoculation, but was not observed in wounded tissue. Six peroxidase isozymes were found in the intercellular wash fluid from uninoculated leaves. Two of these isozymes increased in response to fungal attack. Enhanced levels of activity in these two isozymes were correlated with the appearance of papillae. These results suggest that two of the extracellular peroxidase isozymes are a component of a general host response to inoculation with E. g. hordei. However, these inoculation-related changes in peroxidase isozymes were not correlated with any race-cultivar specific responses." @default.
