- W37282849 abstract "The scientific papers presented in this compilation represent a contribution to knowledge in the fields of veterinary toxicology and pathology, with particular emphasis on diseases of cattle associated with plant poisoning and nutritional secondary hyperparathyroidism of grazing horses. Papers included report original studies on the cost of plant poisoning, on the effects of poisoning of livestock by plant oxalates, by Bryophyllum spp., by Castanospermum australe, by Sorghum bicolor, by Pimelea neo-anglica, by Solarium esuriale, by Polygonum spp., by Cucumis myriocarpus, by Diplodia maydis-mitcX&di maize, by aflatoxin-contaminated peanut hay and by larvae of the sawfly Lophyrotoma interrupta, on bovine enzootic haematuria and on dieldrin poisoning and botulism in pelicans. Comprehensive studies on the relationship between oxalates in tropical pasture grasses and nutritional secondary hyperparathyroidism in grazing horses are included which provide a useful understanding of the disease and effective means for its control through prevention and therapy. Contributions to work on fatty liver syndrome and selenium-responsive myopathy of poultry are presented. Original work on infectious disease in cattle is represented by reports establishing Rfiodococcus equi as a pathogen capable of producing lesions of lymph nodes mimicking those of bovine tuberculosis. Studies of phaeohyphomycosis of the nasal cavity and bovine herpesvirus 1 infections are also included. A variety of reports of diseases of Australian native fauna, goats, deer, laboratory animals, dogs and cats are presented. Review papers in all these fields are also included." @default.
