- W4200001068 abstract "Energy is an essential resource for human development and survival. The demand for efficient energy resources are needed. One is hydrogen gas, which has high energy per unit volume. To take out maximum energy from the hydrogen gas, the raw hydrogen, which is mostly derived from natural gas and coal, is purified to remove unwanted carbon dioxide. This process is called precombustion carbon capture. For this purpose, membrane technology is a new technique to generate the purest form of hydrogen. In this chapter, we cover the technological developments of membrane technology for hydrogen gas separation. Moreover, the historical aspect, current trends, and prospects of hydrogen gas separation using membrane contactors have also been succinctly described. We conclude that membrane technology has a huge potential as a technology for producing high purity hydrogen gas to fulfil our present and future energy needs." @default.
