- W4200190089 abstract "Climate change in the near future will have an impact on physiological function of global vegetation. Plant growth, net primary productivity, photosynthetic capabilities, and other biochemical functions that are needed for normal metabolic function will be affected by rising temperatures and CO2 levels in the atmosphere. In addition to the effect of primary metabolism on growth and development of plant, changes in future climate will also have an impact on plant secondary metabolism from both biotic and abiotic sources. Medicinal and aromatic plants (MAPs) are an important source of secondary metabolites having great importance in pharmaceuticals, food, flavors, and cosmetics industries, demand of which are rising around the world. A couple of established researchers worldwide expressed that the quickly elevating CO2 and temperature are posing a great pressure on the development, yield, and quality of MAPs. The need for analysis to boost our comprehension of climatic consequences on MAPs is unclear, particularly in terms of elevated CO2 and temperature. CO2 is a key player in the up-regulation and management of atmospheric temperature. Additionally, the plants suffer from heat stress as a result of the high temperature in the atmosphere. In fact, the plant undergoes several morphological, physiological, and biochemical changes. The development of numerous secondary metabolites is invariably elicited by high temperatures in plants. Various methodologies for studying the production of secondary metabolites under higher environmental circumstances have been well documented. With this goal in mind, the current review will look into and explore future scenarios including increasing CO2 and high temperatures and their effects on plant processes, yield, and secondary metabolites of MAPs which will be beneficial for pharmaceutical industries, biotechnology industries, and also in climate change research." @default.
