- W4200193670 abstract "The term nanoceramics refers to materials fabricated from ultrafine particles that are <100 nm in diameter and are classified as non-metallic, inorganic, and heat resistant solids. Over the last two decades, there has been a huge amount of in-depth study and experimentation into nanoceramics and their exceptional qualities have resulted in positive outcomes not only in academia but also for industrial use as well. Consequently, these advanced materials have a wide range of uses not only in microelectronics and nuclear industries but also in medicine and biomaterials. In the dental biomaterials, nanoceramics have found their place in various restorative and preventive purposes such as dental composites and glass ionomer cement as well as mouthwashes and toothpaste due to their remineralizing capabilities. Not only that but also nanoceramics play an important role in providing thermal and mechanical stability to dental prosthesis used in the oral cavity. Recently, these materials have also been used in the field of tissue engineering and regeneration with positive comes. Nanoceramics are being used as a scaffold for the regeneration of bony structure lost due to diseases and also play a part as signaling molecules in cancer therapy. The following chapter discusses in detail the use of nanoceramics in the field of dentistry together with the advantages and disadvantages and possible future recommendations." @default.
