Experiments on animals are cruel, expensive, and the results are sometimes not applicable to humans and ethical issues also arise. So scientists worldwide have moved on to develop and use methods for studying diseases and testing products that follow the principal of 3Rs (reduction, refinement, replacement) and are actually relevant to human health. These alternatives to animal testing include sophisticated in vitro methods like human cells and tissues, in silico modes like advanced computer modeling techniques, use of stem cells, in vivo imaging techniques, metaanalysis, use of lower vertebrates/invertebrates, Organ-on-a-chip, system biology tools, and studies with human volunteers and human patient simulators. These and other nonanimal methods work successfully across the species and their results may easily be applied on humans. These techniques have proven to be academically superior, easily available, cost effective, and take lesser time to complete." @default.
