- W4200328771 abstract "The articulated compression resin transfer molding with a flexible membrane (ACRTMFM) is a new variant of CRTM (Compression resin transfer molding) process. It belongs to the closed mold technique family. This new manufacturing method consists of combining the articulated pieces of ACRTM (Articulated compression resin transfer molding) with the flexible bag taking from VACRTM (Vacuum assisted compression resin transfer molding). Which gives to this new variant the potential to reduce mold filling time, injection pressure, compression force, cleaning mold time, in addition to its capacity to produce complex composite structures. This innovation is based on the application of the theory of inventive problem solving (TRIZ), allowing to answer to the shortcomings of CRTM, ACRTM and VACRTM. The main objective of this paper is to present this new process and investigate its capacity to manufacture large composite structures. For this purpose, a mathematical modeling is conducted to describe the evolution of the parameters governing this process. The results obtained show that the ACRTMFM can significantly reduce the filling time as compared to resin transfer molding process for large composite components." @default.
