- W4200359071 abstract "This paper totally reports the results of eight pure torsion tests on steel reinforced concrete (SRC) beams and one pure torsion test on contrast reinforced concrete (RC) beam. Test variables included stud position, stud spacing, stud length, stud diameter and stud layout. The test results indicated that the failure pattern of all SRC beams was the ductile failure with the characteristics of multiple 45° inclined cracks and concrete crushing, but for RC beam, that is the brittle failure with single 45° inclined crack. The arrangement of studs at the wed could improve the torsional behavior of SRC beams, and increasing the stud diameter and stud length could play an enhanced effect, but the effect of setting studs at the flange was not significant. Compared with the specimen with symmetrical welded studs, the specimen with staggered welded studs had better torsional properties. Moreover, the stud spacing structured in 150–250 mm was beneficial to the torsional behavior of SRC beams. Considering the positive effect of studs on torsional behavior of SRC beams, the calculation methods of cracking and ultimate torsional moment were proposed, and the calculated value reflected the measured data well." @default.
