Further scrutiny into this study reveals that the dose of Lactobacillus acidophilus La-5 ranged between 9.2 and 9.5 log CFU per daily serving portion (40 g), which was mentioned to be equivalent to 1.65 × 109 CFU/ser = 9.2 log CFU/ser, and 2.86 × 109 CFU/ser = 9.5 log CFU/ser. This needs to be considered and corrected in results as the authors have included the study by Xavier-Santos in the systematic review. Secondly, we suggest that subgroup analysis be performed based on probiotics of dietary and non-dietary sources and based on the average probiotic dose used in the studies.
