The depositional microfacies, biostratigraphy and reservoir characteristics of the three measured stratigraphic sections of the Asmari Formation in Al Ain city, are examined in this study, to evaluate the quality of the Asmari Formation as a hydrocarbon reservoir. The three sections are referred as the S enayah section, the Mezyad section, and the Malaqet section Fig. 1. The main diagenetic features and processes present in these samples are: micritization, cementation, stylolitization, mechanical compaction, dissolution and do lomitization. Porosity and permeability in the Asmari Formation range from 3.5% -19.98% and 0.11 mD – 9.17mD, respectively (Tables 1-3). The best reservoir microfacies within the Asmari Formation are found in the coralline alg al boundstone microfacies. Oil-pr oduction from the grain-supported microfacies may require reservoir production improvement methods such as hydraulic fracturing.
