- W4205091691 abstract "Current Opinion in Hematology was launched in 1994. It is part of a successful series of review journals whose unique format is designed to provide a systematic and critical assessment of the literature as presented in the many primary journals. The field of hematology is divided into nine sections that are reviewed once a year. Each section is assigned a Section Editor, a leading authority in the area, who identifies the most important topics at that time. Here we are pleased to introduce the Section Editors for this issue. Section Editors George J. BrozeGeorge J. BrozeDr Broze is a Professor of medicine and cell biology and physiology at Washington University, St. Louis, USA. He received his medical degree from the University of Washington, Seattle, USA, his residency training in medicine and pediatrics at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, USA and his fellowship training in hematology at Washington University, USA. His clinical interests are in hemostasis and thrombosis and his research focus is the regulation of coagulation. Dr Broze's scientific contributions have centered on the tissue factor pathway of coagulation (factor VII, tissue factor, and tissue factor pathway inhibitor), and more recently, the anticoagulant effects of protein Z and protein Z-dependent protease inhibitor (ZPI). He has been elected to the American Society for Clinical Investigation, the Association of American Physicians and Best Doctors in America. Dr Broze has served on the Editorial Boards of Blood, the Journal of Biological Chemistry, and Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology, Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis, and served as an Associate Editor for Blood. His awards include the Clinical Scientist Award and Sol Sherry Lectureship of the American Heart Association, the William Dameshek Prize from the American Society of Hematology, and the Distinguished Investigator Award, Distinguished Career Award and the Pia Glas-Greenwalt Lectureship from the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis. Charles AbramsCharles AbramsDr Abrams is an Associate Chief of Hematology-Oncology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, USA. He received his undergraduate degree in BioEngineering at Johns Hopkins University, and medical degree at Yale School of Medicine. After an internal medicine internship at Temple University, USA and residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Dr Abrams completed a Hematology-Oncology fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. His clinical and research interests are in hemostasis and thrombosis. Dr Abrams scientific contributions have focused on murine models to analyze signaling pathways within platelets that are critical for phosphoinositide signaling and cytoskeletal dynamics. He is the Secretary of the American Society of Hematology, and serves on their Executive Committee. Dr Abrams currently serves as a Chair of the Hematology Subspecialty Board at the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is the Chair of the Hemostasis-Thrombosis Study Section of the National Institutes of Health Center for Scientific Review, and formerly chaired the American Heart Association National Study Section on Thrombosis. Dr Abrams’ awards include the American Heart Association-Sanofi Winthrop Award, and he has been elected member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation and the Association of American Physicians." @default.
