- W4205092324 abstract "Bullying is a common experience of childhood and adolescence that is characterized by repeated actions over time with an intent to harm. Research on gifted students and bullying or cyberbullying varies in the way that gifted participants in the studies are defined. In addition, research on cyberbullying and the gifted has recently emerged. Extant research is focused around several themes, including prevalence of bullying and victimization, protective factors and coping strategies, reporting of bullying behaviors, and lived experiences of at-risk groups of gifted students with intersecting identities. In Connolly's 2018 study of gifted youth in a Talent Search program in Ireland, adolescents who experienced cyberbullying also avoided reporting it to parents or adults but did report it to friends or siblings. Terminology used in the literature to describe bullying varies among researchers. Peterson and Ray described bullying as “aggressive behavior with potential to cause physical or psychological harm to the recipient”." @default.
