Cet essai clinique de supériorité, contrôlé, randomisé, a été mené en ouvert et en deux groupes parallèles : un groupe expérimental bénéficiait de la kinésithérapie habituelle associée à une technique de massage selon la méthode de stimulation manuelle veino-lymphatique (méthode de Schiltz), un groupe contrôle bénéficiait de la kinésithérapie habituelle. L’amplitude de flexion du genou était mesurée à j7. De 2014 à 2017, 44 patients ont été inclus (98 requis) : 22 dans le groupe expérimental, 22 dans le groupe contrôle. Un écart moyen de 2° a été constaté entre les deux groupes, sans différence statistiquement significative. Une tendance à la diminution de la douleur dans le groupe expérimental incite à envisager d’autres études sur un échantillon plus important. Il s’agira aussi de prendre en compte le type d’œdème (superficiel ou profond) afin de vérifier l’effet de la stimulation manuelle veino-lymphatique sur l’œdème superficiel et donc sur la récupération de la mobilité articulaire. 2. Post-operative edema after total knee arthroplasty slows down joint recovery. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a massage technique using manual veno-lymphatic stimulation during the first week of hospitalization on the recovery of knee mobility following total knee arthroplasty versus usual physiotherapy alone. This randomized controlled superiority clinical trial was conducted in two open and parallel groups: an experimental group received usual physiotherapy combined with a massage technique using the manual veno-lymphatic stimulation method (Schiltz method), a control group received only usual physiotherapy. The knee flexion amplitude was measured at D7. From 2014 to 2017, 44 patients were included (98 required): 22 in the experimental group, 22 in the control group. A mean difference of 2° was found between the two groups without significant statistically difference. A tendency to decrease pain in the experimental group leads to consider further studies on a larger sample. In addition, the type of edema (superficial or deep) has to be taken into account in order to assess the effect of manual veno-lymphatic stimulation on superficial edema and therefore on the recovery of joint mobility. 2." @default.
