- W4205152038 abstract "House construction in rural India is adopting traditional building material and design from the early Vedic period to the current period. The brick and mud in walls and thatch as roof covering reflect the sustainable construction practices. The brick, mud, and thatch are locally available through the use of agricultural waste materials. The locally available materials are energy free and structurally suitable and stable. Use of recyclable natural building materials in rural housing involves lesser energy consumption and low CO 2 emission. The thick brick and mud walls keep the interior cool in summer and warm in winter. The long-sloped thatch roof overhanging protects the wall from heating and rain water by keeping away the bright sunrays and driving rain. Rural housing depends on low venture and high upkeep. Financial exchanges are minor. This support work makes standard work for all. This is one of the significant components of monetary sustainability of network. House-making in India is a socially touchy and profoundly ritualized measure. It is a get-together that includes much particular standing, and which merges the ties among neighboring rural zones and villages. The help of relations, companions, and neighbors is compensated by food, drink, and shared assistance. This is one of the main elements of the social relationship and improvement. This chapter will clarify the sustainability idea of development of rural housing. This study also examines rural character perception from the housing perception. Studies show that local building material and traditional design is very important for perception of rural housing. To maintain rural character and sustainability in rural housing it is recommended that design guidelines should be match with tradition and use local building material and incorporate community participation in rural house construction. This method can apply for data modeling for future design guidelines in rural housing for sustainability." @default.
