Magnetic and other important properties of these complexes are also highlighted in this review. Future scopes in this area of synthetic inorganic chemistry are also discussed. A variety of trinuclear transition (and non-transition) metal complexes with H 2 salen type Schiff bases have been synthesized and their structures and properties have been reported in literature. This review represents an overview on the synthetic strategies, structures and important applications of these complexes. It is worthy to mention here that only those complexes are considered in this review whose X-ray structures are available. The complexes may grossly be divided into two major sub-classes; homo-nuclear complexes and hetero-nuclear complexes. Mixed valence trinuclear complexes were also reported with cobalt, and in most of the cases, mixed valence complexes have been synthesized by the in situ partial oxidation of cobalt(II) to cobalt(III) by aerial oxidation. Magnetic and other important properties of these complexes are also highlighted in this review. The less explored areas of potential applications of these complexes are also discussed." @default.
