- W4205664490 abstract "Concrete is the main component of most construction structures, and its production is responsible for causing environmental impacts due to the consumption of large amounts of natural aggregates and energy. Recently, significant attention has been devoted to replacing natural aggregates with recycled materials/aggregates to minimize the consumption of ordinary concrete and alleviate the concrete environmental impacts. Although the performance and strength behaviors are vital to assess the applications of the green concretes, it is crucial to evaluate their environmental impacts. For this purpose, life cycle assessment (LCA) is commonly used to measure the environmental impacts related to the consumption of materials and energies for concrete production. The main objective of this chapter is to review the comparative LCA studies of concrete using waste material as a substitute to conventional concrete mixtures. Comparative LCA studies of concrete incorporating recycled concrete aggregate, fly ash, slag, glass, plastic, or rubber are reviewed." @default.
