This report utilized several sources of data, including (1) primary panel data collected in two rounds—August and September 2019 and January and February 2020; (2) localized weather data from the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) covering conditions from the two months preceding each survey, and (3) secondary analysis of data available from various sources. A structured questionnaire, directed toward the primary female member of the household, collected information on an array of issues concerning illness, use of health care. the status of common mental disorders—namely, depression and anxiety—and background information on a host of related issues. The BMD weather data came from 43 weather stations across the country between 1976 and 2019, with approximations provided for areas where weather stations remain unavailable. The study presents some limitations requiring investigation in future research to estimate the burden of disease.
