- W4206100144 abstract "Nanomaterials (NMs) have exceedingly significant surface-to-volume ratio and quantum effects due to their nanoscale size as compared to conventional materials. Their physical and chemical properties, including thermal, mechanical, electronic, catalytical, biological, and optical properties, would be significantly changed or improved and making them potentially useful for applications in sample preparation, e.g. sample pre-concentration, molecular probe, and biological and electrochemical sensing. Overall, NMs being adsorbents have large surface area per volume, and proper functionalities are considered a prime candidate for adsorption process. Many efforts have been made to develop numerous protocols for realizing the mechanism of adsorption/desorption from NMs. The principle of transfer of analyte to the active sites of the NMs has been studied. This chapter will describe in depth the mechanism of adsorption on NMs in detail." @default.
