The meager availability of fresh water has been a severe threat to both sustainable development and more generally human life. Many desalinization approaches have been employed for the production of fresh water from seawater or contaminated water; however, the continued quest for sustainable and inexpensive strategies of this process remains invaluable. The achievement of these efficiencies includes the goal of purification processes that have been found to be particularly effective with solar energy, as well as the generation of hydrogen. While it is very old, the practice of solar distillation has helped in the production of pure water. Such a solar distillation system uses the most abundant and renewable energy to drive source water and harvests the greatest amount liquid condensate to produce fresh water, making it a sustainable method. Most recently, solar evaporation has received a great deal of attention. The widespread use of natural resources such as sunlight and bodies of water, such as lakes and oceans, as well as the high photothermal efficiency which has been improved through interfacial heating and thermal management has harnessed the advancements in solar-driven water-purification technologies." @default.
