- W4206363090 abstract "With the advent of interdisciplinary sciences, conjugation of biology and electronics has been successfully utilized to design diagnostics aptly named biosensors. DNA forms an integral part of the genetic material and is considered as the identity of an organism. DNA tends to hybridize with its complementary sequences and this property is used to design different diagnostic devices. DNA sensors is a device, whereby the concept of hybridization between complimentary sequences is used for detection of various organisms. DNA sensors or geno-sensors comprise of three main components namely the biological interface, transducers and signal processor. Based on the type of transducers used, these sensors have been categorized broadly into optical, electrochemical and piezoelectric devices. One of the most common practice remains real time monitoring of microbial species via hybridization with the target nucleic acid at the biological interface. These microbial geno-sensors exhibit accuracy and efficacy in detection of pathogens and thus may facilitate to curb the intensity of infection. This chapter reviews different transducer based sensors and their potential in diagnosis of microbes causing topical infections." @default.
