The Schiff bases are weighed up as privileged bio-potent ligands in coordination chemistry afforded by the condensation of primary ammine and carbonyl functionalities. Extensive efforts have been done to fabricate the homobimetallic-complexes of Schiff bases finding their catalytic and biological utilities. These protean coordination compounds accredited with characteristic polydentate ligands, redox nature of metal centers and the geometry of complexes can afford remarkable structural tunability to reinvigorate their potential applications. During the last decade, homobimetallic-complexes have been the center of attention among pharmaceutical and medicinal chemists, owing to their significant microbicidal lineaments. The literature reports provided promising results for growth inhibitory response of binuclear metal (V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Mo, Ru, Pd, Ag, Cd, Sn, W, Os, Hg, Pb) chelates of Schiff bases against a wide range of infectious bacteria and fungi. Herein we have compiled a comprehensive review, highlighting the schematic synthesis, characterization and antimicrobial screening of Schiff base derived homobimetallic-complexes which make them successful candidates for pharmacological investigations." @default.
