While it can reduce gas emissions, it also brings result in energy consumption issues that cannot be ignored. This paper first proposed an energy solution of the double-suction hydraulic turbine for the desulfurization application, and analysed the energy recovery capability of the system and the turbine. The flow characteristic of turbine was analysed though numerical simulation, and the energy loss mechanism by the entropy production theory. The results show that the new energy solution can recover 15.26% of the energy consumed in the system, and the working efficiency of this double-suction turbine can reach more than 80%. From the perspective of the energy and flow characteristic, the entropy production in the mainstream region consumes most of the turbine energy loss, and the impeller is the main component of energy loss, accounting for 68.6% to 81.74%. The undesirable flow path phenomena such as vortex and backflow in the turbine can increase hydraulic loss, and the impeller is the main part of the energy loss in the turbine. These results are of great significance to the design and optimization of the turbine in the future." @default.
