- W4206924462 abstract "AbstractSince business process management (BPM) can become more disruptive due to new technologies, both explorative and exploitative BPM approaches are being combined to improve business processes. This combination of approaches refers to the notion of ambidexterity. The question, however, remains which emerging technology is appropriate for which type of process improvement. Therefore, this research is designed to translate the original task-technology fit (TTF) theory into a process-technology fit (PTF) theory by also acknowledging an ambidextrous BPM environment. We have derived an initial theoretical model from existing theories and frameworks. Afterwards, we have conducted an expert panel with a content analysis of 19 interviews. Our findings demonstrate ambidextrous BPM practices, and uncover what it means when processes fit or do not fit certain technologies. Novelty resides in translating TTF into PTF and BPM ambidexterity, and so contributing to BPM’s theoretical underpinnings. In addition, we provide more insight into related practical issues.KeywordsProcess-technology fitProcess improvementProcess innovationDigital innovationAmbidexterity" @default.
