- W4210294821 abstract "One of the main challenges for pollutant monitoring in water is their trace amounts; which necessitates strategies for exhaustive or non-exhaustive extraction of them before their quantitation. A suitable extraction method should be highly sensitive, reliable, rapid, and economical, through automation. Furthermore, as new strategies are implemented to minimize materials and solvents in laboratories and to develop on-site capabilities and in vivo applications, micro-extraction techniques are developed. This chapter discusses applications of miniaturized solid-phase extraction techniques that were developed for the extraction and pre-concentration of pollutants in water matrices. In the beginning, a summary will be presented on the extraction methods based on a solid phase, and then miniaturization methods of solid-phase extraction will be explained. Before discussion of the applications, in each section, a brief theory and practical aspects of these so-called micro extractions will be explained. These techniques include solid-phase micro-extraction, micro-solid phase extraction, stir-bar sorptive extraction, needle-based extraction, and micro-extraction by the packed sorbent. In the end, new solid materials which are recently suggested for isolation and enrichment of common pollutants are discussed." @default.
