Graphene is the rising star of two-dimensional carbon allotropes which has generated enormous scientific interest due to its unique structure and physicochemical properties as well as its high specific surface area. This kind of the outstanding properties make them suitable candidates in the diverse fields of modern science and technology. Due to its excellent electron mobility and high specific surface area, graphene is considered as an effective cocatalyst to enhance the photocatalytic activity of semiconductor photocatalysts. The performance of photocatalysts is generally dependent on the semiconductor photocatalysts and their surface morphologies. Here, we provide a comprehensive approach to the fast-developing multifunctional graphene-based semiconducting nanomaterials composite, including materials synthesis, characterization, and their emerging applications in the environmental field. In this chapter, graphene-based semiconductor nanocomposites are considered as potential candidates for the photocatalysts to describe the various global environmental issues such as organic contaminants, toxic elimination of heavy metal ions, and antimicrobial applications.
