- W4210866639 abstract "Air quality in megacities is generally attributed to air pollutant emissions associated with environmental management. This study explored the spatial and temporal variations in air pollutant concentrations from 13 air-monitoring stations in Xi'an during 2013–2019 and identified the relationships between air pollutant concentrations and the local intensity and regional synergy of the environmental regulation. The concentrations of PM10, PM2.5, and CO in sub-urban regions exceeded those in urban regions, whereas an opposite trend was observed for NO2 and O3. Inter-annual variations in air pollutant concentrations showed decreasing trends, indicating the promising atmospheric pollution improvements resulting from environmental management. The intra-daily variations in air pollutant concentrations exhibited heterogeneity, with PM10, PM2.5, and CO showing two peaks and a minimum, whereas NO2, O3, and SO2 exhibited a peak and a minimum. The proportion of primary air pollutants varied seasonally, with PM10 highest in spring, summer, and autumn, and PM2.5 in winter. The highest correlation coefficients were found between PM10 and PM2.5, PM and NO2, and NO2 and CO. There were negatively correlations between both local intensity and regional synergy in environmental regulation and the concentrations of PM10, SO2, and CO. This study can provide scientific support for regional atmospheric pollution management." @default.
