- W4210987071 abstract "Cyprinodontidae family name refers to small fish that generally resemble Cyprinidae, but they have jaws furnished with small, highly visible teeth. This chapter deals with Cyprinodontidae Berg, focusing on Aphanius dispar, Aphanius fasciatus, and Aphanius iberus, both of which fall under Aphanius Nardo. For each species, general description, their geographic distribution, their ecological habitat, and their feeding and reproductive behaviors as well as their economic importance and conservation status are discussed. The Aphanius dispar is a small, thickset fish, demonstrating sexual dimorphism, with the brownish females larger in size than greenish brown males, and is found in the Red Sea, the Dead Sea and the Mediterranean Sea. The Aphanius fasciatus is a thickset body fish having small mouth, large eyes with males being more colored but smaller in size than females, and is present in Malta and on the northern Adriatic coasts. The Aphanius iberus is found on the eastern and south-eastern coasts of Spain." @default.
