The rates of oxidation of para– and meta-substituted benzyl alcohols correlate well in terms of Charton's triparametric localized, delocalized and resonance-demand (LDR) equation, whereas the oxidation of the ortho-substituted compounds correlate with the tetraparametric LDR steric (LDRS) equation with negative polar reaction constants. This chapter explores the kinetics of the oxidation of some ahydroxy acids by quinolinium chlorochromate (QCC). It analyses the kinetic and activation parameters of the oxidation of thiourea with quinolinium dichromate. Strained alkynes including arynes and cyclooctynes reacted with N–methoxyamides through palladium-catalysed CH/NH activation to yield important N–heterocycles such as phenanthridinones and isoquinolones in one step with high efficiency. The reduction of secondary allyl amides with lithium aluminium hydride (LAH) often leads to a concomitant reduction, producing n–propylamine derivatives. Borohydride reduction of salicylaldehyde imines yields a cyclic boramide." @default.
