- W4211127132 abstract "Silver (Ag) has the highest electrical and thermal conductivity among all metals, making it an ideal component for electrical interconnection. This chapter reviews the nanocomposites consisting of chalcogenide semiconductors and noble metals other than gold, mainly including Ag and platinum, as well as their application in photocatalytic hydrogen generation. The metal-based nanocomposites with ideal combination can be helpful for quick transfer of the photogenerated charge carriers from one to the other, and can delocalize the photoelectrons over the excited states of both metal and semiconductor, which in turn hinders carrier recombination, thus providing more chances for their utilization in activating the chemical reactions. Reliable synthesis of semiconductor-metal nanocomposites would increase their availability for fundamental studies and applications in catalytic, magnetic, and optoelectronic devices. Dual metal nanoparticles either with heterogeneous structures or homogeneous alloy phases usually exhibit improved catalytic performance in comparison with that of each of their constituents." @default.
