- W4213057889 abstract "AbstractForensic science deals with the legal investigation of crime and thus applies knowledge from biology to cyber to identify evidences. The evidence collection, detection, and identification are of prime importance. Forensic science is widely influenced by nanotechnology. The modern-day nanotechnological advancements in sensor technology proved as a promising tool for the detection of trace evidences, such as explosives and toxins. The body fluid analysis is an important aspect for timely investigation in forensics, and the nanotechnology-led lateral flow assays (LFAs) provide a rapid and sensitive detection. The forensic material characterization includes atomic force microscopy (AFM) working at nanolevel for an in-depth analysis. The questioned document examination using atomic force microscopy provides three-dimensional (3D) surface morphology, useful for the identification of ink crossing and pen strokes on paper. The fingerprint analysis in forensic science is used as prime evidence for individualization. The conventional techniques of fingerprint development lack the sensitivity and reliability for various substrates and aged prints. The nanotechniques are utilized for latent fingerprint developments. Forensic biology mainly deals with individualization of victims and culprits based on the DNA analysis. Nanoparticles (NPs) are used to increase the efficiency of extraction and amplification of DNA. The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is improved immensely using gold nanoparticles. The current chapter focuses on the synthesis scheme of nanoparticles and wide applications of nanotechnology in forensic science." @default.
