We will start by introducing the classic Shockley–Queisser theory and deriving the upper limit for the performance of an ideal solar cell. Then, we will discuss different types of V loss , namely radiative (Δ V r ) and nonradiative recombination loss (Δ V nr ), and the strategies to reduce Δ V r and Δ V nr in solar cells. We will also focus on organic solar cells and discuss the role of charge transfer (CT) state in determining V loss : a number of molecular parameters related to the CT state properties will be introduced, and their impacts on CT state decay dynamics, Δ V r and Δ V nr , as well as V loss will be discussed using both theoretical and experimental methods." @default.
