- W4214742021 abstract "The scope of this work is to investigate and study the structural behavior of composite steel truss-concrete vierendeel beams by considered the top cord member of the truss (compressive element) as the concrete slab. The experimental work consists of seven specimens, all of them have a span of 2000 mm with slab width 1000 mm and divided into three groups with different geometric properties according to parametric study. Each group consists of two beams and the control is one for all groups, the parametric study are; number of central vierendeel panels (2, 3, 4) where An increase in number of vierendeel panels lead to reduce ultimate load capacity about (8.37-11.08) %, number of panels that bracing by diagonal member (without, one, two) near support where decrease the panels that have diagonal bracing member lead to reduce ultimate load capacity by (41.55) %, slab thickness (50, 70, 90) mm where increasing concrete slab thickness from 50 mm to 70 mm and after that to 90 mm leads to increase ultimate load capacity of the composite vierendeel truss beams about (28.41) % and (55.30) %, respectively. The connection between steel truss and concrete slab is by using vertical and diagonal members of truss directly embedded in the concrete slab. The results are conducted by measurement of load-deflection curves, ultimate load capacities, strains, and crack patterns. Various mechanisms and failure modes obtained from these specimens like inelastic local failure of joint and tearing, overall and local flexure failure, local buckling. The crack pattern of concrete slab is noticed in four types; local compression, flexure, shear and combined flexure-shear." @default.
