- W4214750607 abstract "This study describes the design and performance of a modified indirect solar dryer (MISD) integrated (linked) with a thermal energy storage unit for drying dhekia (Diplazium esculentum). The solar dryer consists of a solar collector, thermal energy storage system, and a drying chamber. The experiments are conducted in three different cases, open sun drying (case-I), tray dryer (case-II), as well as the modified indirect solar dryer with TES (case-III). The moisture content of dhekia is reduced from 83.1% to 3.46% in solar dryer is takes 270 min and 420 min in open sun drying. The quality analysis of fresh sample, solar dried, open sun dried and tray dried samples were performed and found that the anti-oxidant levels of solar dried sample are 21 µ mol of TE per gm of sample and open sun dried is 11 µ mol of TE per gm of sample. From the thermal and quality analyses, it is observed that the developed solar dryer with TES reduces drying time and enhances the quality attributes compared to the other two cases." @default.
