- W4214841617 abstract "In this chapter, various aspects of the advanced oxidation process (AOP) used for the treatment of leachate produced from hazardous waste (HW) landfill and municipal solid waste (MSW) landfill have been summarized, and some conclusions have been drawn based on literature review. Leachate generated from MSW and HW landfills consists of various heavy metals, inorganic and organic compounds, refractory organics and ammoniacal nitrogen. Since, the composition of leachate from MSW and HW landfill is complex, any conventional leachate treatment method is not enough for its treatment and disposal. To remove refractory organic molecules or to break them down into simpler biodegradable substances requires advanced techniques. Thus, reviewed are applications of various AOPs such as using O3 in combination with H2O2, O3, H2O2 with UV light, O3 with UV light, Fenton and photo-Fenton treatment, electrochemical, wet air and ultrasound for treatment of leachate generated from MSW and HW landfill." @default.
