- W4214906708 abstract "Based on the perspective of threshold effect and spatial spillover effect, this paper first builds a theoretical framework of new-type urbanization (NU) and energy efficiency (EE), and then develops a spatial threshold model to further investigate the impact and its spatial spillover boundary of NU on EE in different period. The results show: In terms of direct effect, NU in the growth period inhibits local EE, the effect of NU in the transition period on local EE is not significant, and NU in the mature period is beneficial to improve local EE. In terms of spillover effect, the inhibitory effect of NU on EE in the neighboring areas weakens with the improvement of NU level. On the whole, NU inhibits EE, which will be alleviated with the increase in the level of NU. The spatial spillover effect of NU on EE in different periods shows the obvious characteristic of distance attenuation, and its attenuation trajectory has the feature of wave-like decreasing. This study provides policy implications for realizing the “win-win” situation of constructing NU and improving EE. • A theoretical framework of new-type urbanization (NU) and energy efficiency (EE) is established. • A spatial threshold model is built to systematically study the threshold effect and spatial spillover effect. • NU has nonlinear impact on local EE and EE in the neighboring areas. • The distance attenuation of spatial spillover effect shows obvious wave-like decreasing." @default.
