- W421693164 abstract "Abstract The task of electrical capacitance tomography (ECT) is to recover the information of the cross-sectional material distribution of the region of interest (ROI), in the form of reconstructed images, by using the capacitance measurements on the boundary. The main difficulty of ECT lies in the “soft” field nature of the electromagnetic field. In the past, most of the reconstruction algorithms of ECT were based on the sensitivity theorem. For these algorithms, the permittivity perturbations for the whole domain must be reconstructed simultaneously. In this chapter, several direct algorithms for ECT, for example, Calderon's method, the dbar method, and the factorization method, are presented. The direct methods are able to reconstruct only a part of the ROI without the information of the other parts. Moreover, they can be generalized to the case of sensors of noncircular cross sections by using conformal transformations." @default.
