- W4220761858 abstract "Heavy metals are one of the common chemical contaminants that can seriously affect the environment and human health. Precipitation, reverse osmosis, and adsorption are the common approaches to remove this contaminant. The combination of biosorption and nanotechnology offers a new and greener way to remediate heavy metals. Nanocellulose which has high adsorption capacity, high mechanical strength, renewable and biodegradable receive much attention and is urgent. The high specific surface area and the present abundance of hydroxyl group lead to the broad possibility of functionalization of this material. Several researches had shown the effectiveness of nanocellulose to remediate number of chemical contaminants. In this chapter, an overview of the capability of nanocellulose to adsorb heavy metals was discussed." @default.
