• W4220791303 abstract "The influence of twisted wind profile (TWP) on aerodynamic characteristics of tall building is investigated by pressure measurement test with varying angle of attack (AOA) of (−90°, 90°). Wind loads on building and aerodynamic correlations in presence of two TWPs is detailly evaluated and compared with the counterpart in conventional wind profile (CWP). To elucidate the underlying physics, proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) analysis is employed to extract spatial and spectral feature of pressure patterns. The results show that aerodynamic load on building is largely modified by twisted wind, and is determined by AOA and the maximum twisted angle (MTA) simultaneously. Under TWP, the maximum mean torsional force increases with MTA, while maximum fluctuating wind loads is reduced because energy and frequency of vortex shedding are suppressed; Moreover, the correlation of wind load components and local forces are both enhanced, which possibly amplifies wind-induced responses. The first two POD modes are found to be related to shift mode and vortex shedding phenomenon respectively. TWP's modification in pressure patterns is the essential cause of the twisted-wind effect on aerodynamic characteristic macroscopically. The findings provide insights into the fundamental mechanism of TWP-structure interaction, which helps wind-resistant design for tall building in mountainous terrain." @default.
