- W4220797349 abstract "A series of polyethylene oxide (PEO)-polypropylene oxide (PPO)-PEO triblock polymers were used to determine their compexation ability with gold (Au) nanoparticles (NPs). Two prominent categories of water soluble block polymers such as pluronics and tetronics were used to differentiate their complexation ability with Au NPs. UV–visible, size, zeta potential, solution conductivity, and microscopic studies were applied to quantitatively estimate the critical aggregation concentration (cac) between the block polymers and Au NPs. Results showed that linear block polymer pluronics demonstrated much stronger association with Au NPs in comparison to star shaped tetronics. The origin of this discrimination was attributed to the difference in the molecular structures of pluronics and tetronics, as well as their modes of adsorption on solid – liquid interface of Au NPs. The results highlighted the NPs complexation ability with such biologically active water soluble polymers for their diverse applications in biological systems where Au NPs are frequently used as markers or drug delivery vehicles." @default.
