- W4220925851 abstract "This study proposes a beam-through moment-resisting joint for H-section (wide-flange) beams and columns that can be prefabricated and easily assembled onsite for low-rise and mid-rise steel structures. Three groups (six in total) of beam-through beam-column connections are designed and tested under quasi-static loading protocols. The output parameters include joints' deformation, failure mechanism, hysteretic behavior, backbone curves, bearing capacity, ductility, energy dissipation capacity, joint rotational stiffness. The results demonstrate that the combination of through-beam continuity plate stiffeners, panel zone doubler plates, and reduced beam sections provide optimal seismic performance. A simplified analytical method is also proposed to calculate the initial rotational stiffness of the through-beam column joint." @default.
