Methods: The process of acceleration described by Hartmut Rosa offers an explanation for this paradoxical disproportion. From a time-analytic perspective, it becomes clear that coping with loss runs counter to the dynamization of society. Results: Grief as a bio-psychological process cannot be accelerated as such. Instead of therapy-immanent solutions, changes are needed that are reflected on a societal level. Conclusions: The approaches 'grief literacy' and 'compassionate communities' can help to implement bereavement into the society as a whole.Fragestellung: Wie lange benötigen Hinterbliebene, um einen Verlust zu bewältigen? Frühe Erkenntnisse gehen von Wochen aus. Spätere Untersuchungen sprechen von Jahren. Dennoch scheint sich die Schonfrist für Betroffene in der modernen Welt trotz objektiv konstanter Zeit, vielfacher Zeitgewinne und Einsparungen stetig zu verkürzen. Methode: Ein Erklärungsmuster für dieses paradoxe Missverhältnis bietet der von Hartmut Rosa beschriebene Prozess der Beschleunigung an. Aus einer zeitanalytischen Perspektive wird deutlich, dass Verlustbewältigung konträr zur Dynamisierung der Gesellschaft läuft. Ergebnisse: Trauer als bio-psychologischer Prozess ist als solcher nicht beschleunigbar. Statt therapieimmanenter Lösungen bedarf es Veränderungen, die sich auf gesellschaftlicher Ebene abbilden.
