- W4220998090 abstract "In this work, we present the procedure for the exact evaluation of the horizontal and vertical motion at the surface of partially saturated soils induced by both faster waves. The analytical solutions for the plane wave reflection/transmission coefficients in the coupled water–partially saturated soils–solid substrate system are calculated for appropriate boundary conditions. Then, using these reflection and transmission coefficients, dynamic characteristics of partially saturated soils layer (i.e. horizontal and vertical displacements) are calculated as a function of incident angle, excitation frequency, and sandwiched layer thickness. The horizontal and vertical displacements are used to calculate the three key factors: amplification coefficients, displacement amplitudes, and displacement ratios. The effect of various parameters on amplification coefficients, displacement amplitudes, and displacement ratio is examined graphically through MATLAB software." @default.
