- W4221036626 abstract "In nuclear power plants (PWR), the rod cluster control assemblies (RCCAs) can be damaged by impacted-sliding wear due to flow induced vibrations, which leads to specific wear of the contact surface. A detailed numerical simulation of the flow field and pressure force in the control rod (CR) guide tube was carried out based on the CFD method in this paper. Then a new method was proposed to transfer the surface pressure filed to the pressure force on the control rods. The results show that the pressure force on the inner rods that located at the height of second guide card are higher than the others. At different positions of the guide cards, the pressure force of internal control rod CR1 is higher than CR2. The pressure force of the external control rod CR5 is lower than CR3 and CR4. For the same control rods, the pressure force at the height of guide card 2 is higher than guide card 1 and guide card 3. At the same time, the pressure force of control rod 1 is the highest than other rods that means the control rod 1 may result in larger potential displacement, on the contrary, the control rod 5 is likely to have a smaller potential displacement." @default.
