- W4225146937 abstract "The transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources is urgently needed to create cleaner and more sustainable energy in the future. Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) have a big opportunity to become alternative solar cells that offer advantages as cheap and easy to fabricate solar cells. However, low power conversion efficiency (PCE) is one of the biggest challenges in its development. TiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) were often used as a photoanode material in DSSCs, however, the use of TiO2NPs as photoanode still shows lower PCE than other solar cells. One strategy in modifying TiO2NPs is incorporation with plasmonic nanomaterials such as silver nanowires (AgNWs). Through a comprehensive literature review, it is proposed that plasmonic nanomaterials can increase the photon absorption as a result of the localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) effect. In addition, the shape of the one-dimensional (1D) nanomaterials can improve the electron transport and reduce electron-hole recombination, thus increasing the overall performance of DSSCs." @default.
